Philadelphia 76ers Team Report - December 3

(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the new-look Toronto Raptors, 95-88, on Tuesday at the Wachovia Center.

Allen Iverson paced Philadelphia with a game-high 35 points. He was 18-of-23 from the foul line, but just 8-of-32 from the floor. Iverson was coming off a 50-point performance in a win against Atlanta on Saturday.

Kenny Thomas chipped in 18 points and nine rebounds for the 76ers, who have dropped four of their last six contests.

Philadelphia opened the fourth quarter with a 9-2 spurt to take a 76-75 lead. Thomas’ layup ended the run and gave the 76ers their first advantage since the opening quarter.

Toronto then responded with a 12-4 burst to regain the lead. Donyell Marshall’s three-pointer capped the surge and made it 87-80 in favor of the Raptors with just 2:45 remaining.

Philadelphia was able to get within 89-85 on two free throws by Iverson with 1:04 left. The 76ers then forced a turnover, but Aaron McKie missed a three- pointer from the corner.

Toronto’s Jerome Williams was then fouled and sank both attempts from the stripe with 39.4 seconds remaining to make it a six-point game. After Kyle Korver missed a three-point shot for the 76ers, Carter was fouled and hit both free throws to seal it.

Marc Jackson scored 12 points, before he was forced to leave the game in the second quarter with a fractured left ring finger.

Eric Snow left the game briefly as he needed five stitches to close a wound on his chin.

Philadelphia’s Derrick Coleman missed his third straight game, as he continues to experience knee problems.

The 76ers are off until Thursday when they host the Chicago Bulls.
