(Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns close their miserable season tonight when they face the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.
Phoenix comes into tonight’s game off a loss. On Tuesday, the Suns fell to the Los Angeles Clippers, 98-96, at America West Arena. Amare Stoudemire led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns, who closed out their home season with an 18-23 record. The loss dropped Phoenix into a tie with the Clippers for the worst record in the West.
Shawn Marion added 24 points and pulled down 10 boards, while Leandro Barbosa chipped in 17 points for Phoenix.
The Suns’ Joe Johnson, who had reached double digits in the previous 42 games, scored just nine points, ending the fifth-longest active streak in the league.
Stoudemire has averaged 23.5 points and 10 rebounds in his last 10 games. He has scored at least 20 points in 25 of his last 29 games.
Phoenix is a dismal 10-30 on the road this season. The Suns are 3-10 in Wednesday games.
This is the fourth meeting of the season between the two squads. The Jazz won the three previous contests and have won four straight overall in this series. Phoenix has lost eight of nine and 12 of its last 14 at Utah.
