Phoenix Suns Team Report - January 26 01.26.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns continued to struggle on Sunday, as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 99-95 decision to the red-hot Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
Shawn Marion netted a team-high 31 points and pulled down 13 boards for the Suns, who lost for the third straight game overall and dropped their seventh straight contest at Minnesota.
Joe Johnson added 22 points, while Jake Voskuhl pitched in 10.
Phoenix fired up several three-point tries in the final moments, but all came up short and the Suns were forced to foul. Fred Hoiberg added a free throw in addition to Sam Cassell’s six foul shots in the last 30 seconds to keep the Suns from pulling off a last-second victory.
The Suns were again without reigning Rookie of the Year Amare Stoudemire, who sat out his fourth straight game with a bad ankle. He has played just 23 games this season and could miss the team’s entire five-game road trip.
Phoenix, which will wind down its trek with stops in Indiana, Washington and New York, has dropped six of its last eight on the road and is 5-18 away from home this season.
The Suns return to action on Tuesday against Atlanta.
