|
(Basketball News) - Phoenix has little to play for but pride at this point in the season, as it owns the worst record (22-47) in the Western Conference.
The Suns have lost two straight and 15 of their last 19 games, including a 93-80 defeat to Minnesota Friday night.
Shawn Marion netted 21 points and grabbed 10 boards for the Suns, who dropped their fifth straight game at home. For the year, Phoenix owns just a 14-21 record at America West Arena.
Joe Johnson registered 18 points, while Amare Stoudemire and Leandra Barbosa posted 15 points apiece. Stoudemire also secured eight rebounds in the losing effort.
Phoenix is just 14-34 since Mike D’Antoni replaced Frank Johnson as coach on Dec. 10.
The Suns will continue their two-day honoring of Charles Barkley this evening when they host the Milwaukee Bucks.
Barkley will become the 10th player inducted into the Suns’ Ring of Honor and also will become the eighth player to have his number retired by two teams this evening.
Milwaukee snapped a seven-game series losing streak with a 95-87 win at the Bradley Center on January 7. The Suns have still won 11 of 13 and 22 of the last 25 meetings overall. Milwaukee has dropped 15 straight trips to the Valley of the Sun.
