Pistons attempt to win 13th in a row

The Pistons won a team-record 13 straight games from February 25-March 20, 1990, during the second of back-to-back championships.

On Saturday, Chauncey Billups scored 26 points and handed out six assists to lead the Pistons over the Milwaukee Bucks, 99-94, in a Central Division battle at the Bradley Center. Richard Hamilton finished with 22 points for the Detroit.

"The biggest thing is execution," Pistons coach Larry Brown said. "We’ve played better as a team in every area."

The Pistons, who have won eight straight at home, are 17-5 as hosts this season.

San Antonio comes into today’s game fresh off a win on Sunday that snapped a three-game losing streak. Tony Parker scored 20 points in the first half and the Spurs rolled to a 109-92 win over the Boston Celtics at the FleetCenter.

Rasho Nesterovic stepped up with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds for San Antonio, which halted a three-game losing streak. Tim Duncan had 15 points and Charlie Ward added 10 off the bench in the win — the Spurs’ 12th straight versus the Celtics.

"We combined 48 minutes of good defense with making some shots," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "That certainly makes things easy for us."

San Antonio has not allowed over 100 points in its last 24 contests.

The Spurs, who have won nine of their last 11 on the road, are 11-9 as the visitor this season.

In 2002-03, the Spurs won both meetings between the two teams.

Overall, the Spurs have won six straight and eight of nine against the Pistons. San Antonio has won three in a row at Detroit.
