Pistons host Heat

Auburn Hills, MI (Basketball News) - The Detroit Pistons try to win their fourth in a row tonight when they welcome rookie Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat to the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Chauncey Billups scored seven of his 24 points in overtime, as the Pistons earned a 79-78 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday at Madison Square Garden.

Billups scored the final four Detroit points, including the decisive free throw with 6.4 remaining on the clock, as the Pistons won their third straight to spoil Antonio McDyess’ return for the Knicks.

Mehmet Okur added 14 points and Corliss Williamson scored 12 for Detroit in the win.

The Pistons are 6-2 at home this season.

Miami comes into tonight’s contest well rested.

Wade scored 16 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the Heat to a 78-66 win over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday at AmericaAirlines Arena.

Eddie Jones contributed 12 points and Brian Grant added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who won for the second time in six games overall and captured their fifth straight over Toronto.

On Monday, the Heat announced that they have signed free agent center Wang Zhizhi to a multi-year contract.

A four-year veteran, Zhizhi has appeared in 103 games with the Dallas Mavericks (2001-02) and Los Angeles Clippers (2002-03). The 7-foot-1, 284- pound center has averaged 5.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 10.3 minutes per game in that span.

Miami made another roster move Monday, as the Heat waived forward Tyrone Hill. Hill appeared in five games with the Heat this season and averaged 1.8 points per game.

The Heat are a dismal 1-10 on the road.

Earlier this season, the Pistons beat the Heat, 93-81, at Miami on October 31.

Overall, Detroit has won two straight and five of the last six over the Heat.

Miami has lost two straight and three of its last four at Detroit.
