Pistons’ Hunter suspended for using banned substance

03.7.2007

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Detroit Pistons guard Lindsey Hunter was issued a 10-game suspension by the league on Wednesday for testing positive for phentermine, a substance banned by the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.

The suspension, which comes without pay for Hunter, begins Wednesday night when Detroit hosts Cleveland. He won’t be eligible to return until the Pistons’ March 25 game at Milwaukee.

A reserve guard, Hunter, 36, is averaging 4.6 points and 1.4 assists in 39 games this season.

Phentermine, an amphetamine, is an appetite suppressant.
