Pistons welcome Sixers to The Palace

04.15.2007

(Basketball News) - The Detroit Pistons play first of a short two-game homestand when they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers today to The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Pistons are 3-0 against the Sixers this season, and have won six in a row in the series. Philadelphia has lost five straight and six of its last seven at Detroit.

Detroit has won the Central Division and is the top seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs. On Friday, Anthony Parker poured in 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Toronto Raptors over the Pistons, 87-84, at Air Canada Centre.

Richard Hamilton scored a game-high 24 points for the Pistons, who had a three-game winning streak halted. Carlos Delfino ended with 11 points, while Antonio McDyess netted 10 for the Pistons.

Chauncey Billups, who is averaging 17.4 points and a team-best 7.2 assists this season, did not play against Toronto. Billups (sore right thigh) is questionable for today’s contest.

The Pistons are 25-14 at home this season. They will host the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday and will wrap up their regular-season schedule on Wednesday against the Boston Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden.

Philadelphia tries to get back on the winning track. On Saturday, Dwight Howard poured in 35 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists as the Orlando Magic cruised past the Sixers, 104-87, at the Wachovia Center.

Andre Miller netted 18 and pulled down eight boards for the Sixers, who had a three-game winning streak halted and were officially eliminated from playoff contention. Andre Iguodala, Kyle Korver and Louis Williams each chipped in 14 points in defeat.

On the injury front for Philadelphia, Forwards Iguodala (strained lower back) and Korver (partially torn tendon in right wrist) are expected to miss today’s game. Iguodala leads the Sixers in scoring (18.2 ppg).

The Sixers are 12-27 on the road this season. They will finish their season on Wednesday against the Raptors at the Air Canada Centre.
