Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points in the loss for the Nuggets, who had their season-high eight-game winning streak come to an end. Nene posted 22 points and 10 boards, while J.R. Smith scored 19 and Allen Iverson netted 16 points in defeat.
The Nuggets, who will visit the Spurs on Wednesday at the AT&T Center in the regular-season finale for both clubs, are 22-18 at home this season.
Minnesota tries to halt a five-game losing streak. On Sunday, Jason Richardson poured in 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out seven assists as the Golden State Warriors crushed the Timberwolves, 121-108, at ORACLE Arena.
Ricky Davis scored 42 points for the Timberwolves, who have lost nine of their last 11 games overall. Craig Smith had 14 points and 12 boards, while Randy Foye contributed 13 points in defeat.
The Timberwolves are just 12-28 on the road this season. They will host the Grizzlies on Wednesday in their season finale.
Minnesota is 2-1 against the Nuggets this season. The Timberwolves have lost four of their last six contests at Denver.
