Portland downs Memphis in double overtime 01.27.2007

Ime Udoka also got his career high with 21 points for the Trail Blazers, who have won three of four. Brandon Roy scored 16 points, Jarrett Jack 13. Martell Webster scored 12 points and Jamaal Magloire added 10 off the bench.
Mike Miller posted 28 points and eight rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have lost four of five. Pau Gasol (strained left hamstring) was questionable for the game, but notched 24 points and 14 rebounds, nonetheless.
Chucky Atkins scored 23 points and Hakim Warrick had 20 off the Memphis bench. Eddie Jones posted 13 points and eight rebounds, while Damon Stoudamire had 10 assists.
Randolph exploded for seven straight Portland points and Roy scored the next five, as the Blazers got their largest lead of the game, 128-123, with 1:10 remaining in the second overtime.
After Warrick scored on a jumper, Randolph nailed a dagger from two steps beyond the arc to put Portland ahead by six with 38.1 seconds left. Atkins followed on a layup with 18.3 seconds on the clock.
Udoka hit a free throw with 17.5 seconds left and Gasol got a dunk about seven seconds later to trim Memphis’ deficit to four.
But, Jack converted a pair of free throws with 9.8 seconds remaining to seal the win for Portland. Miller drained a trey with 1.3 seconds, but it was too little too late, as the Blazers held on for the hard-fought win.
With Portland trailing by one in the first overtime, Randolph converted 1-of-2 free throws with 55.7 seconds to re-tie the score at 116. Atkins missed on a three-point attempt on the en suing possession, but Gasol got the rebound and was then fouled.
He missed both attempts from the charity stripe, however, and Randolph then missed on a running jump hook in the lane. Atkins missed on a jumper from the low block, and Roy came up just short from half court to send the game into double-overtime.
With Memphis trailing by two, Warrick hit on a double-clutch one-handed hook shot and got fouled with one minute left in regulation. He missed the free throw to leave the score tied at 111 for the final minute.
Randolph missed on a turnaround fadeaway jumper in the lane with 34 seconds left. Miller missed on a baseline leaner, got his own rebound, and then missed on a wide-open layup to leave the score tied with eight seconds remaining.
Memphis had a foul to give, and exercised it immediately. Roy cut hard through the lane, expecting contact, but had the ball knocked loose. Udoka came up with the rebound and lifted a desperation fadeaway at the buzzer that fell just short, as the game went into overtime.
Memphis got going early on a 10-0 run capped by a Dahntay Jones jumper with 2:11 remaining, however Portland picked up its offense down the stretch, closing the quarter on a 10-4 run to trial just 28-21 heading into the second.
The Grizzlies added five points to their lead in the second to hold a 59-47 advantage heading into the locker room.
After Jones opened the second half with a trey and Miller hit 1-of-2 free throws, the Blazers regrouped and went on a 15-3 burst capped by a Udoka tip shot with 7:08 remaining to cut their deficit to just four.
