Portland keeps improving

12.15.2006

(Basketball News) - Even though they still are below .500, the Portland Trail Blazers (10-14) just keep getting better. On Friday, the Trail Blazers attempt to extend their winning streak to a season-best four games when they host the Los Angeles Clippers at the Rose Garden.

It is the second meeting of the season between the Trail Blazers and Clippers. On November 6th, Corey Maggette led a balanced Los Angeles attack with 20 points and nine rebounds as the Clippers topped the Trail Blazers, 102-89, at the Staples Center. The Clippers have won two straight after losing their last 12 at Portland. The Clippers have won five in a row in the series.

Portland opens a three-game homestand against the Clippers. Zach Randolph scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Trail Blazers to an 85-79 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

Ime Udoka finished with 15 points in the win over the Grizzlies for Portland, which earned its first three-game winning streak of the season with the win. Jarrett Jack and Juan Dixon scored 11 points apiece for the Blazers.

The Trail Blazers are scheduled to host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday and the Toronto Raptors on December 22nd. Portland is 4-6 at the Rose Garden this season.

Portland is 3-1 when it reaches the century mark this season. The Trail Blazers are a brutal 1-12 when they allow 100 or more points.

Randolph leads the Trail Blazers in scoring (25.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.2 rpg). He has scored in double-digits in all 23 games he has appeared in this season. The Michigan State product has registered a double-double in 14 games this season.
