Rajon Rondo: Stephon Marbury Could Help Us

In one of their more energetic starts, the Knicks took a 10-point lead in the first quarter, before the Celtics erased it in the second. But a tone had been set. The Knicks, who are too often glued to the 3-point arc, attacked the basket, frequently and with zeal. They put Garnett in early foul trouble, then Kendrick Perkins. And they kept coming.

The Celtics’ bench looked shaky all night, underscoring why the organization may consider signing Stephon Marbury, the exiled Knicks guard, if he becomes a free agent. That may never happen, because Marbury refuses to negotiate a buyout, and the Knicks will not release him outright.

“Some people may think it’s a bad idea, but I think it could help us,” Rondo said. “Anybody who’s a great player in this league could help our team.”
