Report: Clippers sign Thomas 07.2.2006
|
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Clippers originally wanted to ink Vladimir Radmanovic with their midlevel exception money, but then quickly moved in on Thomas after Radmanovic agreed to sign with the Lakers.
The deal cannot become official until the signing period begins on July 12.
A nine year veteran, Thomas has averaged 11.9 points and four rebounds a game with Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New York, Chicago and Phoenix. He started last season with the Bulls but only played three games due to friction between him and the organization. He was then traded to the Suns and averaged 11 points over 26 games before becoming a critical component in the team’s playoff run.
The Daily News is also reporting that the Clippers and Sam Cassell are in the process of negotiating a new contract, but the two sides have yet to agree on the length of the deal.
