Rockets sign Mark Jackson

Houston, TX (Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets signed free agent point guard Mark Jackson Thursday to back up Steve Francis.

Jackson ranks second all-time in the league with 10,215 assists and is 20th with 1,591 career steals. Magic Johnson and John Stockton are the only other players in NBA history to record 10,000 career assists.

The 16-year veteran spent last season with the Utah Jazz as a backup to the now-retired Stockton, averaging 4.7 points and 4.6 assists in 17.9 minutes per contest.

For his career, Jackson has scored 9.9 points per game to go with 8.1 assists.
