(Basketball News) - Mike Bibby scored 23 points and Bobby Jackson added 16, as the Sacramento Kings held on to defeat the Detroit Pistons, 97-91, on Tuesday at ARCO Arena.
Doug Christie netted 14 points and grabbed eight boards for Sacramento, which halted a two-game skid. Vlade Divac chipped in 13 points and nine assists and Peja Stojakovic collected 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings.
Sacramento stretched a seven-point halftime lead to 69-54 on Christie’s three- pointer midway through the third quarter.
The Pistons then stormed back and took their first lead since the opening quarter when Corliss Williamson converted a layup with 5:15 remaining to give Detroit an 85-84 edge. Tayshaun Prince increased the margin to three with a driving layup with 3:47 left.
Divac then sank four consecutive free throws to put the Kings back in front by a point.
After Elden Campbell made a pair of foul shots for the Pistons, Brad Miller converted a three-point play for Sacramento and Stojakovic followed with a basket to stake the Kings to a 93-89 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
The Pistons then hurt themselves with two crucial turnovers and Bibby sealed the contest when he sank a pair of foul shots with 16.5 seconds left to increase the advantage to six.
The Kings are off until Thursday when the visit Rasheed Wallace and the Portland Trail Blazers.
