(Basketball News) - Tim Duncan scored 21 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs over the New Jersey Nets, 99-76, on Wednesday at the SBC Center.
Hedo Turkoglu added 18 points and Rasho Nesterovic chipped in 16 for the Spurs, who won for just the second time in their last six games.
Manu Ginobili’s six points led a 7-0 spurt that saw the Spurs grab a 78-64 lead just two minutes into the fourth. Jason Kidd’s three-pointer and a Kerry Kittles bucket momentarily stopped the bleeding for New Jersey, but San Antonio ripped off seven straight points after that to take an 85-69 advantage.
"I think in the second half, we did a nice job contesting shots, making their shots tough," Duncan said. "Defense was the difference."
The Nets never threatened after that, and the Spurs went ahead by as many as 20 points when they led 93-73 with 3:41 remaining.
The Spurs also beat the Nets earlier in the season in New Jersey.
San Antonio is off until Friday when it visits the Phoenix Suns.
