Seattle SuperSonics Team Report - February 20

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 112-101, on Thursday at KeyArena.

Ray Allen paced Seattle with 31 points and 11 boards. Ronald Murray added 14 points for the SuperSonics, who have lost eight of their last 11 games. They were playing for the first time since the All-Star break.

The Sixers led by as many as 12 points in the second half when Kenny Thomas opened the third quarter with a bucket to make it 61-49. However, the Sonics later climbed to within 63-61 after a 12-2 burst.

Philadelphia restored its double-digit lead inside the 3:00 mark when Allen Iverson’s bucket made it 77-67, but Seattle scored seven of the next 10 points and trailed by six at 80-74.

Iverson was then fouled behind the arc with just seconds remaining in the stanza, and he drained all three free throws for an 83-74 lead heading into the fourth.

Philadelphia never let the Sonics get closer than five the rest of the way.

Seattle opened the fourth with a 6-2 burst to get within 85-80, but the Sixers scored 12 of the next 18 points pull ahead by 11 and later matched their largest advantage of the game when they led 112-100 late.

Allen has scored in double digits in 23 straight games.

The Sonics are off until Saturday when they visit the Golden State Warriors.
