Sixers’ Green sidelined with thumb injury

12.5.2003

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Philadelphia 76ers guard Willie Green underwent successful surgery to repair a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb and is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks.

The 6-4 rookie has played in 15 games this season and is averaging 1.9 points per contest.

Green was originally drafted by Seattle in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He was then dealt to Philadelphia on June 26, 2003 for the draft rights to Paccelis Morlende and an undisclosed amount of cash.
