Sixers’ Iverson and Minnesota’s Garnett take home NBA weekly honors Biography

Iverson averaged a league-high 40 points, while dishing out 9.3 assists and grabbing five rebounds per contest in the Sixers’ 2-1 week. He tallied back- to-back 40 point games for the third time this season, pouring in 41 points on January 9 versus Seattle and recording 46 points versus Utah on January 11. He also notched a double-double with 33 points and 10 assists in a triple- overtime victory over Boston on January 13.

Garnett spurred the Timberwolves to a 2-1 week behind three great all-around performances. The perennial all-star averaged 24.3 points, 14 rebounds and 6.3 assists. He tallied double-doubles in each of Minnesota’s three contests, including a 31-point, 15-rebound, six-assist performance in a 103-89 victory over Denver on January 13.

Other nominees for the weekly award included Cleveland’s Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Denver’s Carmelo Anthony, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, Miami’s Dwyane Wade, New York’s Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury, Phoenix’s Steve Nash and Utah’s Andrei Kirilenko.
