Sixers open homestand vs. Warriors

02.2.2007

(Basketball News) - The Philadelphia 76ers open a seven-game homestand this evening when they welcome the Golden State Warriors to the Wachovia Center.

The Sixers just went 2-1 on a three-game road trip and posted an 89-78 victory over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Wednesday at the Ford Center. Andre Iguodala posted 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead Philadelphia.

Andre Miller scored 14 points for the 76ers, who have won four of their last six games. Joe Smith recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards and Steven Hunter did the same with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Philadelphia, which is 8 1/2 games off the lead in the Atlantic Division, will try to work on a 7-11 home record tonight. The Sixers will also host New Jersey, Charlotte, the Clippers, Dallas, Washington and New York.

Meanwhile, the Warriors will resume a six-game road trip on Friday and are 0-2 so far on the trek. In Wednesday’s 115-94 loss to Atlanta, Baron Davis scored 17 points and dished out 12 assists for the Warriors, who have lost six in a row on the road. Al Harrington had 21 points and Stephen Jackson netted 17, as Golden State fell to 4-17 as the visitor this season.

The Warriors are 16 games off the lead in the Pacific standings, and will also visit Charlotte, Indiana and Minnesota on the swing.

Golden State defeated the Sixers, 116-97, on December 26 this season at ORACLE Arena, and has won two straight and three of the last four meetings.

Philadelphia, though, has won six of the last eight matchups at home.
