To clear roster spots, the team placed rookie center Robert Swift and Damien Wilkins on the injured list.
Potapenko suffered a broken finger during an exhibition game against the Trail Blazers and has missed the first six weeks of the season. The 6-foot-10 Ukrainian, a nine-year veteran, averaged 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 65 games last season with the Sonics.
Meanwhile, Murray has been sidelined with a strained left quadriceps muscle. "Flip" averaged 12.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest a year ago.
Swift has a sore right hip, while Wilkins has tendinitis in his right knee.
