On Wednesday, the Miami Heat continue their six-game road trip when they visit the struggling SuperSonics tonight at KeyArena. It is the second and final meeting of the season between the squads. On November 7th, James Posey drained a three-pointer with 19 seconds left to give Miami a 90-87 victory over Seattle at AmericanAirlines Arena. Miami has won two of three and three of its last five at Seattle. The Heat have won three in a row in this series.
Seattle has lost five in a row and begins a season-long seven-game homestand against Miami. On Tuesday, reigning MVP Steve Nash scored 27 points and handed out 11 assists, to lead the red-hot Phoenix Suns to a 113-102 win over the SuperSonics at US Airways Center.
Nick Collison scored 29 points and pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds in the loss to Phoenix for the SuperSonics, who have lost seven of their last eight games overall and 12 in a row on the road. Ray Allen finished with 25 points and nine assists for Seattle, while Earl Watson scored 12 points and dished out nine assists in defeat.
The SuperSonics are 9-8 at KeyArena this season. They will also host Utah, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Denver, Minnesota and the Clippers.
Seattle continues to play without forward Rashard Lewis, who suffered a sprained tendon in right hand on December 20th during a 103-95 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. He is expected to miss up to eight weeks with the injury. Lewis is averaging 21.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 27 contests this season.
Since Lewis went down with the injury, the Sonics are 3-7. Lewis is the second option on offense to Allen, who leads the SuperSonics in scoring (24.7 ppg).
The SuperSonics are 5-16 when they allow over 100 points this season.
