Sonics finish road trip against Grizzlies

12.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies attempt to halt a six-game losing streak when they welcome the struggling Seattle SuperSonics tonight to the FedExForum.

Memphis lost seven straight earlier this season from November 4-18.

On Saturday, Dwyane Wade came back from a two-game absence in a huge way, pouring in a season-high 41 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 98-90 win over the Grizzlies at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Mike Miller and Hakim Warrick both finished with 20 points for Memphis, which has dropped six in a row and nine of its last 10 games overall.

All-Star Pau Gasol is back for Memphis. In two games, Gasol is averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 17 minutes of action per game.

The Grizzlies are 3-7 at home this season. They will visit the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Friday.

Seattle plays the finale of a five-game road trip. On Sunday, Jason Maxiell’s baseline jumper with 6.8 seconds left gave Detroit the lead and the Pistons went on to defeat the SuperSonics, 97-93, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Rashard Lewis ended with 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Sonics, who fell to 0-4 on their current road trip. Chris Wilcox finished with 21 points in defeat.

The SuperSonics are 4-9 on the road this season. After tonight’s contest, they return home for a three-game homestand. Seattle will host Dallas, Toronto and the Hornets on the upcoming stand.

Seattle has won six of its last seven at Memphis. The SuperSonics have won seven of the last 10 contests in this series.
