03.13.2007

(Basketball News) - The San Antonio Spurs shoot for their 13th straight win this evening when they conclude a brief two-game homestand versus the Los Angeles Clippers at the AT&T Center.

The Spurs, who haven’t won 13 in a row since ripping off 17 straight victories during the 1995-96 season, posted a 93-77 triumph over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday at the AT&T Center.

Tony Parker scored 19 points and Tim Duncan posted 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Spurs, who are third overall in the Western Conference standings. Manu Ginobili chipped in 12 points off the bench, while Brent Barry ended with 11 points and seven boards in the win.

San Antonio has won six in a row at home and is 21-8 as the host this season.

Meanwhile, the Clippers have dropped three in a row and four of their last five games. On Sunday, the Clippers were handed a 98-80 setback by the Detroit Pistons at the Staples Center.

Corey Maggette paced LA with 19 points and Tim Thomas finished with 16 off the bench for Los Angeles, which is currently in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Elton Brand finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort.

Los Angeles will now open a six-game road trip at San Antonio, Houston, Charlotte, New Jersey, Chicago and Milwaukee. LA is 8-21 on the road this season and has lost its last four games as the visitor.

Tuesday’s showdown between Los Angeles and San Antonio is the fourth and final meeting of the regular season. The Spurs have won the first three matchups so far, and have won four straight and 12 of the last 13 meetings.

The Clippers have lost eight straight and 17 of their last 18 at San Antonio.
