The 26-year-old Stevenson, who signed a one-year contract worth less than $1 million last year with Washington, averaged 11.2 points, 2.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 82 games last season. He also extended his streak to 168 consecutive game started; the third-longest active streak in the NBA behind only San Antonio’s Bruce Bowen and Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince.
"DeShawn plays a key role for us, and he fits in very well with our team," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said. "He understands and has accepted his role. DeShawn is a hard-nosed competitor who wants to win."
Stevenson, who was drafted by the Utah Jazz out of Washington Union High School in California in 2000, is averaging 8.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in seven seasons with the Jazz, Orlando Magic and Wizards.
