Struggling Celtics host Pacers

11.15.2006

(Basketball News) - The struggling Boston Celtics host the Indiana Pacers tonight at TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston has dropped three straight and is a miserable 1-6 on the season. The Celtics just dropped a 92-89 decision to the Orlando Magic on Monday at home. Paul Pierce had 21 points for the Celtics, while Wally Szczerbiak had 14.

Boston is off to its worst start since the 1978-79 season, but that team won its eighth game. It is tied with Charlotte for the NBA’s worst record after the Bobcats lost to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Tuesday.

The Celtics are 0-1 on a three-game homestand and 1-4 as the host this season.

Meanwhile, the Pacers have dropped two of their last three games, including Saturday’s 89-80 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

Al Harrington led Indiana with 19 points and Danny Granger added 18 points and was 5-of-6 from beyond the arc for the Pacers. Jermaine O’Neal had 12 points and eight rebounds in the losing cause.

Boston took three of four games against Indiana last season and has won 10 of the last 18 matchups in the series.

Indiana has lost three straight and seven of its last 10 games in Beantown.
