Struggling Knicks host Pierce and Celtics

The Knicks couldn’t get the job done against Indiana on Saturday, falling 95-94 at MSG.

Allan Houston and Keith Van Horn each scored 16 points for New York, which lost its fourth straight game. Dikembe Mutombo played despite leaving Friday’s loss to New Jersey with a groin injury.

New York owned the boards, 50-29, but still suffered the loss. The Knicks committed eight crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter against the Pacers.

The Knicks lost their third straight meeting with the Pacers.

New York is 1-3 as the host this season.

The Celtics won for the third time in four games on Friday, downing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 91-82, at FleetCenter.

Pierce had 19 points, five rebounds and six assists in the win, while Eric Williams had 17 points and six rebounds off the bench. Vin Baker scored 13 and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, while Tony Battie had 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Celtics have beaten Cleveland in 11 consecutive meetings, dating back to November 4, 2000.

Boston is 2-2 on the road this season.

The Celtics have won eight in a row over the Knicks. Boston has not lost to New York since March 4, 2001, when the Knicks took home a victory at MSG.

Boston, which has won four straight at MSG, has won nine of 12 and 10 of the last 15 meetings.
