Suns try to extend winning streak versus Seattle

04.11.2007

(Basketball News) - The Phoenix Suns try to extend their winning streak to three games when they welcome the Seattle SuperSonics tonight to US Airways Center.

Phoenix has captured the Pacific Division title and is the second seed of the Western Conference playoff race. The Suns are two games ahead of No. 3 San Antonio.

The Suns open a short two-game homestand this evening. Reigning MVP Steve Nash scored 25 points and dished out 11 assists to lead Phoenix Suns to a 115-107 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday at the Staples Center.

Leandro Barbosa scored 23 points off the bench, while Raja Bell went a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range and finished with 22 points in the win over the Lakers for the Suns, who have captured five of their last six games overall.

Phoenix is 31-7 at home this season. The Suns are scheduled to host Kobe Bryant and the Lakers on Friday.

Seattle tries to get back on the winning track, as it starts a three-game road trip. On Monday, Yao Ming scored 31 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Tracy McGrady ended with 27 points to lead the Houston Rockets over the SuperSonics, 95-90, at KeyArena.

Rashard Lewis scored 20 points in the loss to Houston for the SuperSonics, who have dropped five of their last six games overall. Lewis ended the game with 10,154 career points, moving into sole possession of fourth place on the team’s all-time scoring list.

Mickael Gelabale ended with 13 points and Damien Wilkins netted 13 in the loss for Seattle.

The SuperSonics are just 11-27 on the road this season. They will visit Portland on Saturday at the Rose Garden and the Rockets on Monday at the Toyota Center.

Seattle and the Suns have split a pair of games this season. The SuperSonics have lost two of their last three at Phoenix.
