T’Wolves welcome free agent Mike James to the pack

Minneapolis, MN (Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent point guard Mike James on a four-year deal on Tuesday.

According to the Minneapolis-Star Tribune, James agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed that the former Toronto Raptor will earn the Timberwolves full mid-level exception this upcoming season, worth about $5 million.

The University of Duquesne product enjoyed a career year last season, averaging 20.3 points and 5.8 assists for the Raptors.

The five-year veteran has posted averages of 11.9 points and 4.1 assists for his career, which includes stops in Miami, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Houston and Toronto.

James, who was undrafted out of college, is looking to settle in at the point for Minnesota, a position the team sorely needed to address this offseason. The Timberwolves acquired Villanova’s Randy Foye in a draft-day trade, who along with James, figures into the mix at the point with incumbents Troy Hudson and Marko Jaric.
