Smith, who ended his Boston College career as the school’s all-time leading rebounder (1,114 rebounds, 8.6 rpg) and second all-time leading scorer (2,349 points, 18.1 ppg), was selected by Minnesota in the second round of this year’s draft, 36th overall.
"Craig Smith is a competitor and will bring toughness to our basketball team," Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said. "He’s an aggressive, hard-nosed player who rebounds and has a nice touch around the basket. Craig was the leader at Boston College, and was someone who continually improved his game during his four years."
Smith averaged 17.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 36 games last season.
