Baker did not appear in any of the first six games for the Timberwolves after making the team out of training camp.
Baker, a four-time all-star, has averaged 15 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 791 NBA contests over 13 seasons.
Originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks as the eighth overall selection in the 1993 NBA draft, Baker enjoyed his best season during the 1995-96 campaign, where he played 82 games and averaged a career-high 21.1 points per game.
After spending his first four years with the Bucks, he was traded to Seattle in 1997 and spent his next five years with the team. He has also played for Boston, the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Last year with LA he played eight games, averaging 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 10.1 minutes.
