Timberwolves try to extend winning streak at San Antonio

(Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves try to extend their winning streak to five games when they visit the San Antonio Spurs tonight at the AT&T Center.

Minnesota plays the middle contest of a three-game road trip. Kevin Garnett posted 18 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Timberwolves over the Chicago Bulls, 91-81, on Saturday at the United Center.

Ricky Davis and Mike James both scored 15 points in the win over Chicago for the Timberwolves, who have won four in a row and seven of their last 10 contests. Marko Jaric contributed 12 points and seven boards, while Trenton Hassell and Mark Blount both scored 11 points.

The Timberwolves are 6-3 at home this season. They will visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday at the Bradley Center.

San Antonio enters tonight’s game off an impressive victory. Brent Barry scored 24 points off the bench, as the Spurs downed the Los Angeles Clippers, 103-81, on Monday at the Staples Center.

Tony Parker scored 21 points in the win over the Clippers for the Spurs, who have won five of their last six games overall. Manu Ginobili ended with 18 points, while Tim Duncan added 17 points, five rebounds and six assists in the victory.

The Spurs are 7-3 at home this season. They will visit Chris Paul and the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Thursday at New Orleans Arena.

Minnesota has lost five straight after winning its last two at San Antonio. The Spurs have won four in a row and six of the last seven contests in this series.
