(Basketball News) - The Raptors lost a tough game Sunday, falling to the Miami Heat, 90-89, in front of their home crowd.
Donyell Marshall paced Toronto with 25 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Vince Carter added 12 points for the Raptors, who lost their second in a row after winning a season-high five straight.
Toronto led Miami by five points twice in the fourth quarter, the last time at 85-80 on Morris Peterson’s jumper with 5:04 left in the period. However, the Raptors scored only four points the rest of the way, while Miami countered with 10.
Dwyane Wade’s short jumper in the lane with just under a half-minute remaining put the Heat in front, 90-89.
On the Raptors’ next possession, Alvin Williams missed a shot from the corner, but the ball went out of bounds off a Miami player and Toronto got it back. Carter then received the ball, but misfired on a turnaround jumper in the closing seconds.
Carter was only 3-of-12 from the floor.
The Raptors visit the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
