(Basketball News) - Alvin Williams hit a jumper late in overtime to lift the Toronto Raptors to a 78-74 win over the Hornets at the New Orleans Arena.
Jalen Rose finished with 20 points and nine rebounds before fouling out for the Raptors, who scored the final four points to win for the second time in three games and snap a five-game losing streak in the series.
Donyell Marshall contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Williams added 16 points for Toronto, which played most of the game without Vince Carter, who suffered a leg injury.
Rose hit a short jumper with a second remaining in regulation for Toronto to force a 70-70 tie and overtime.
In the extra period, both teams scored two baskets before Williams hit a jumper in the lane to snap a 74-74 tie with 17.6 seconds to go.
After Robert Traylor lost a pass from Baron Davis out of bounds, Lamond Murray hit one of two foul shots to put Toronto ahead 77-74 with 12.8 seconds remaining.
At the other end, Marshall blocked a two-point attempt by Traylor. Williams got the rebound, and hit one of two from the line with 2.6 seconds left to secure the win.
Carter’s streak of 20 straight games scoring in double digits was halted.
The Raptors are off until Saturday when they visit the Atlanta Hawks. Toronto has already defeated the Hawks twice this season.
