(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz were eliminated from postseason consideration on Monday with a 104-90 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
Carlos Arroyo paced Utah with 19 points and seven assists.
Andrei Kirilenko had 16 points and Gordan Giricek added 15 for the Jazz, who had their streak of 20 consecutive postseason appearances snapped. They were eliminated from playoff contention after Denver defeated Sacramento on Monday.
Trailing by 18 at the break, Utah battled back in the second half and cut the deficit to 79-71 on Michael Ruffin’s dunk with 8:22 left in the fourth quarter.
Latrell Sprewell then scored five points during a 7-1 run that staked the Timberwolves to an 86-72 advantage with 6:07 remaining.
The Jazz got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Utah closes its season against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
