(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz’ playoff hopes took a hit on Friday with a 94-81 loss to the defending champion San Antonio Spurs at the Delta Center.
Gordan Giricek scored 22 points for the Jazz, who fell a half-game behind idle Portland for the final playoff slot in the Western Conference.
Utah outshot San Antonio from the field, 46 percent to 43 percent, but committed 17 turnovers and lost the battle on the glass, 36-32.
The Jazz return to action on Sunday when they head to Los Angeles to face the Clippers at the Staples Center. Utah has lost four of six and five of its last eight on the road and is 13-25 way from home this season.
Los Angeles has dropped two of three to the Jazz this season and have dropped four of five and 19 of the last 21 meetings. Utah has also won 10 of its last 13 as the visitors in this series.
