Warriors go for third straight win

11.28.2003

Phoenix, AZ (Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors attempt to extend their two-game winning streak tonight when they challenge the Phoenix Suns to a Pacific Division duel at America West Arena.

The Warriors come into tonight’s contest well rested.

Jason Richardson scored a game-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Golden State over the Portland Trail Blazers, 78-72, in front of their home crowd on Sunday.

Mike Dunleavy tallied 17 points and 10 boards for the Warriors, who won back- to-back games on the heels of a four-game slide. Erick Dampier recorded his seventh straight double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds.

The Warriors won the battle on the glass, pulling down 53 rebounds.

Warriors’ guard Nick Van Exel (knee) and center Cherokee Parks (chest) are questionable for tonight’s game.

Golden State is winless (0-4) on the road this season.

Joe Johnson led seven Phoenix players in double figures with a game-high 21 points as the Suns routed the Dallas Mavericks 121-90 in front of their home crowd on Wednesday.

Johnson has scored in double figures his last six games.

Jahidi White scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Stephon Marbury scored 18 points and dished out 12 assists and Amare Stoudemire poured in 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Phoenix.

Anfernee Hardaway came off the bench and scored 20 points and Zarko Cabarkapa, who made his first career start, added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Suns.

Phoenix forward Shawn Marion (ankle) is doubtful for tonight’s contest, while forward Zarko Cabarkapa will not play and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with a broken right wrist.

The Suns are 6-3 as the host this season.

The teams have already met once this season. The Suns defeated the Warriors, 99-96, in Oakland on November 10th.

The Suns have won the last two meetings with Golden State.

The Warriors have lost four straight and 15 of the last 16 as the visitor against the Suns.
