=== Warriors try to halt nine-game losing streak ===

Oakland, CA (Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors try to put the brakes on a nine-game losing streak tonight, as they welcome the San Antonio Spurs to the Arena in Oakland.

This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two squads. The Spurs won both contests at the SBC Center, while the Warriors won on their homecourt on November 29, 2003.

The Warriors are on their longest losing streak since they lost 10 in a row from March 9-24, 2002.

On Saturday, the struggling Warriors lost to the New Orleans Hornets, 102-84, at New Orleans Arena. Jason Richardson scored 18 points for the Warriors, played the final contest of a four-game road trip.

Golden State is 1-5 in Monday games this season. The Warriors are a respectable 18-13 at home.

The Spurs are in second place in the Midwest Division, two games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves.

San Antonio lost to the Sacramento Kings, 101-87, on Sunday at ARCO Arena. The Spurs played without Tim Duncan for the second straight game, as the MVP continued to rehabilitate his left knee. Duncan is expected to miss tonight’s game.

In Duncan’s absence, Manu Ginobili led San Antonio with 16 points. Rasho Nesterovic added 14 points with 13 rebounds for the Spurs, who had a two-game winning streak halted and lost for just the second time in their last seven.

The Spurs are 20-15 on the road this season.

San Antonio has won five of the last six meetings in this series. The Spurs have lost two of their last three as the visitor against the Warriors.
