Wizards continues homestand

Earlier this season, Washington knocked off the Trail Blazers, 81-80, on November 25, 2003 at the Rose Garden.

On Saturday, Kwame Brown poured in career-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Wizards to a surprising 107-96 win over the Indiana Pacers in front of their home crowd.

Steve Blake made 12-of-13 free throws and also ended with a career-best 18 points in Saturday’s victory for the Wizards, who have won three straight games at the MCI Center. Larry Hughes added 16 points and Brendan Haywood chipped in 12 points for Washington, which made 51 percent of its shots against Indiana.

The Wizards are 9-10 at home this season.

Portland starts a three-game road trip tonight. On Saturday, the Blazers had their 11-game home winning streak over the Golden State Warriors snapped as they fell 105-87 at the Rose Garden.

Zach Randolph paced Portland with 23 points and seven rebounds in the loss, while Wallace chipped in 13 points for the Trail Blazers, who have dropped 10 of their last 12 contests.

Darius Miles, who was acquired from Cleveland on Wednesday, netted 12 in 20 minutes of action in his Portland debut.

Center Dale Davis did not start Saturday’s contest because he walked out of practice earlier in the week. Davis was upset because he had been fined for not attending a previous practice, which he said was impossible because he could not get out of his driveway during a snowstorm.

The Blazers are a dismal 3-16 on the road this season.

The Wizards have won two straight over Portland, which has won six in a row and eight of its last 10 at Washington.
