Washington outscored its opponent 29-20 in the third quarter to turn a two- point deficit into a 77-70 advantage.

The Wizards used an 8-3 burst, capped by Jamison’s lay-in, to establish a 73-66 edge with 1:39 on the clock. Brendan Haywood later pushed the lead to seven with a layup at the buzzer.

Five straight points by Green sliced Boston’s deficit to four early in the fourth, but the road team responded with a 10-2 run to extend the lead to double-digits. Jamison banged in a pair of three-pointers in the stretch, and Etan Thomas polished things off with a layup to make it 90-78 with 6:56 on the clock.

Then, following a Gomes layup, Washington rattled off 11 points in a row to seal the victory.
