Wizards release Knight

03.1.2004

Washington, DC (Basketball News) - The Washington Wizards released guard Brevin Knight on Monday. The move was announced after the Wizards 111-106 overtime win against the New Orleans Hornets. Knight did not play.

The Wizards and Knight mutually agreed to a buyout of his contract for the remainder of the season so that he can pursue other opportunities in the league.

"Brevin was extremely professional in his approach to the game and we wish him the very best as he pursues other opportunities in the league," said Washington president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld.

Knight averaged 4.3 points, 3.2 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 32 games this season with Washington, which acquired him on November 5, 2003 in a trade with Phoenix for center Jahadi White.
