Gary Payton Biography Gary Payton biography Gary Payton, nicknamed the glove, grew up in on of those bad neighborhoods where everyone turns into a drug addicted but nor his dad wanted Gary to have that life. So instead of going to Fremont High School where he lived he went to Skyline. He had no problem making the basketball team. At first he didn’t feel good about going there because of all the trash talking but eventually got over it. As a sophomore he was locked out from playing basketball because he failed many of his classes. His dad made him concentrate on his school meanwhile NCAA standards for scholarships were rising. He started working harder to meet college standards. His team wasn’t doing well but as soon as Gary joined things turned around. He beat Fremont by a last second jumper. After that there was just fighting. Both school’s players were suspended. He played for the Seattle Sonics for 12 and half years before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Ray Allen on March 5, 2003 and finally ended up with the Lakers with veteran Karl Malone.
