Amaré Stoudemire Tears Iris; May Wear Goggles Permanently By C.Y. Ellis 10.3.2008 - Updated on 10.3.2008
| STAT just can’t catch a break. After fighting back from microfracture surgery which saw him spend more time on crutches than the court in the ’05-’06 season, Amaré (his legal name now includes the accent) Stoudemire managed to avoid the injury bug for a full two years. Unfortunately, a single stray digit killed his streak and sent him right back to the doctor’s office.
While his latest ailment won’t force him to miss much time, its ramifications may be permanent. After inadvertently being poked in the eye by Boris Diaw in practice, Stoudemire suffered a partially torn iris, an injury which, while relatively minor, has a high incidence of reaggravation. Consequently, team physicians are advising Amaré to take precautionary measures.
Fortunately for fans of old-school fashion, that means there’s a good chance we’ll see STAT rocking goggles on a permanent basis. While the advent of contact lenses designed for use by athletes saw such eyewear largely fall from favour, they’re still prescribed for those whose peepers need protection from fingers and other foreign objects.
So, assuming Stoudemire is set to suit up with some eye coverage, what type should he choose? Antoine Carr’s Oakley shades set the tone in the nineties and early noughties, while Ben Wallace recently brought back memories of a young Horace Grant with his square-and-strapped joints. If he’s trying to take it way back, though, STAT could always commission the creation of a pair of clear, rimless goggles à la Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Personally, I favour the latter style. What do you think? Let us know in the comment box below. Oh, and to answer the question before you ask it: Yes, it is a slow news day. I was so bored this morning I almost resorted to reading Mark Cuban’s blog. Fortunately, my browser crashed before the page loaded. |

Posted by temm on 06.23.2009 | I needed a component to export community builder users database in excel format to be downloaded by the administrator. After going through many forums i found a component SQL2Excel which could be used to export user data from joomla to excel. I downloaded and installed the same (with some help from http:// ). Now the SQL2Excel is showing up under Components menu in Administrator but on clicking it , i am taken to the home page of Joomla Administrator. It is not working. I checked the installed components and modules and both are showing SQL 2 Excel as installed but i am not able to figure out why its not working properly. On click of it in components menu nothing happens just taken to home page control panel of joomla administrator. Can anyone help me out with this? . | Posted by E.S. on 10.31.2008 | lol,for making him a four eyes? what are you one of the very small group of people (i’d hope) who are intolerant to people who wear glasses? ...and rip does need his face guard,if his nose breaks again they can’t operate on it and it could prevent him from breathing normally.or so i hear.it’s not a fashion show anyway,it’s basketball.everyone could come out wearin luchador masks and i wouldn’t care. . | Posted by The Mask on 10.4.2008 | Actually RIP does have to wear it.
