Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Michael Redd scored 18 points with four assists to lead the Milwaukee Bucks past the Charlotte Bobcats, 99-93, at the Bradley Center.
T.J. Ford added 16 points and seven assists for the Bucks, who have won a season-high five straight games at home. Jamaal Magloire chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds as Milwaukee won for the third time in its last four games.
The Bucks improved to 7-0 all-time against Charlotte.
"I give Charlotte a lot of credit," Bucks head coach Terry Stotts said. "They have young guys out there competing and playing hard, not giving up and fighting through injuries. We weren’t very consistent. Charlotte, with all the adversity they’ve had, played hard."
Melvin Ely netted a game-high 21 points with seven boards and five assists for the Bobcats, who have lost two in a row after a franchise-record three-game winning streak.
"We played hard and we just dropped the ball," Ely said. "There were assignments that we missed, rebounds that we should’ve had, and we’re going to clean that up and make sure on Monday everything’s straightened out."
Matt Carroll added 17 points and seven boards, while Raymond Felton returned to the lineup after missing one game. He netted 14 points, dished out eight assists and pulled down six rebounds.
With under one minute left and down 93-91, the Bobcats were called for an offensive foul, but Redd’s jump shot after the turnover was no good. However, Magloire grabbed the offensive rebound and the Bucks took a timeout with 24.3 seconds remaining.
Off the timeout, Ford eventually took control of the ball at the top of the key before crossing over, driving the lane and converting a layup with 11.9 seconds left to make it a 95-91 contest.
Carroll was fouled by Milwaukee’s Charlie Bell while attempting a three- pointer, but the guard hit only 2-of-3 from the charity strip to make it a 95-93 contest with 10.6 seconds left.
Redd hit two free throws on the other end with 10 seconds remaining and Bernard Robinson failed to convert with a layup for the Bobcats after that.
Bell closed out the scoring with a pair of free throws.
Redd’s basket padded the Bucks’ lead to 80-75 early in the fourth and a three-point play by Andrew Bogut staked Milwaukee to an 85-77 edge with 7:58 left in the fourth.
However, a Primoz Brezec free throw capped off a three-point play and sparked a 6-0 Bobcats run that pulled them within 85-83 with 6:04 remaining.
The two squads then began trading baskets over the next three minutes and Magloire’s dunk staked the Bucks to a 93-89 with 2:46 left. Ely’s layup made it a two-point contest again 50 seconds later.
Milwaukee closed out the first frame on an 8-0 run to take a 27-25 lead into the second quarter. Later, down 44-40 late in the second, the Bobcats netted 13 of the last 18 points in the stanza to take a 53-49 lead at halftime.
In the third, Ely’s layup gave Charlotte a 66-57 edge with 6:34 remaining. However, Ford capped a 13-3 Bucks run that staked Milwaukee to a 70-69 edge with 2:36 left.
Milwaukee then carried a slim 74-73 lead into the fourth.
