Blount re-signs with Celtics

Boston, MA (Basketball News) - Unrestricted free agent center Mark Blount has officially re-signed with the Boston Celtics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 28-year-old Blount was heavily sought after by the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers, but felt it was in his best interest to return to Boston.

Philadelphia, which made an offer to the center, was hoping that Blount wanted to reunite with his former coach and new Sixers head coach Jim O’Brien.

Blount made his presence known in the second half of the 2003-04 season, finishing the campaign by averaging a career-best 10.3 points, 7.2 boards and 1.3 blocks per contest. He was also the only Celtic to play in all 82 regular- season contests.
