(Basketball News) - Brian Cardinal led seven Golden State players in double figures with 19 points, lifting the Warriors to a 104-92 win over the New York Knicks at the Arena in Oakland on Saturday.
Nick Van Exel added 15 and Calbert Cheaney 14 as the Warriors snapped a two- game skid. Mike Dunleavy and Speedy Claxton each contributed 11 points to help Golden State capture its fourth win in its last five home tilts.
Golden State took control of the contest with a 12-0 run in the third quarter. Cardinal scored five points during the spurt, including a three-pointer that started it, and Dunleavy ended the run with a lay-in midway through the period.
The Warriors outscored the Knicks 34-25 in the third period and took an 83-73 into the final period.
Nine straight points to open the fourth quarter by New York drew them within one at 83-82 after a Shandon Anderson three-pointer. But Golden State answered with a 9-0 run of its own to take control of the contest for good. Two consecutive baskets by Cheaney made it 92-82 with seven minutes left to play.
Golden State continued to extend the margin and cruised to the finish line for the easy victory.
The Warriors return to the court on Tuesday in Minnesota.
