(Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped their third game in four tries on Wednesday when they dropped a 92-79 decision to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Kevin Garnett delivered 20 points and seven rebounds for the Timberwolves, who fell for the fourth game in their last six. Sam Cassell contributed 15 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, while Latrell Sprewell scored 10 points.
The loss dropped Minnesota three games back of the idle Sacramento Kings for the top spot in the Western Conference. The T-Wolves also had their lead dwindled to two games over the San Antonio Spurs in the Midwest Division.
Minnesota, which will return home for two games starting on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers, has lost two straight after winning its last three home games. The T-Wolves, though, have won six of nine and 20 of their last 24 and are 24-9 in their building this season
The Timberwolves have beaten the Lakers twice already this season and have won four of six and six of the last nine meetings. Minny has also won four of five and five of its last seven at home against Los Angeles.
Minnesota is 11-4 in Friday games this season.
