07.26.2006

Toronto, Ontario (Basketball News) - The Toronto Raptors released guard Alvin Williams on Wednesday.

Williams has been plagued by a right knee injury that has allowed him to play in just one game since March 19, 2004. He underwent microscopic surgery on the knee in November of 2004, and then had arthroscopic surgery on his knee this past December.

The Villanova product was acquired from Portland on February 13, 1998. He became the team’s all-time leader in assists with 1,791 and ranks second in games played at 417. He owns career averages of 9.3 points and 5.6 assists per game. In 18 career playoff games, Williams averaged 12.5 points and 4.3 assists.
