Bobcats, Nets square off at Meadowlands

12.14.2005

(Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats try and halt an eight-game losing streak this evening when they head to New Jersey to face the Nets at Continental Airlines Arena.

Getting back on the winning track could be a tall task for the Bobcats, as the Nets have won all five regular season meetings between the two teams.

Charlotte’s latest loss came on Tuesday with a 101-85 home-drubbing at the hands of Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets. Emeka Okafor finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats, who have lost nine of their last 10 games and are a dismal 5-17 on the season.

Kareem Rush and Sean May each added 13 points while Brevin Knight had a game- high 16 assists for Charlotte, which committed a season-high 26 turnovers.

The Bobcats were forced to play without forward Gerald Wallace, who told head coach Bernie Bickerstaff less than an hour before tipoff that he would be unable to play because of a sprained right index finger. He is questionable for tonight’s affair.

Charlotte, which will return home for two games after tonight’s contest, is a dismal 1-11 away from home this season.

The Nets also enter on a losing note after getting handled 94-74 by the Washington Wizards on Tuesday at the MCI Center. Richard Jefferson had 13 points and Jason Kidd tallied 12 points for New Jersey, which has lost two straight games.

Vince Carter led the Nets with 14 points, but went just 5-of-15 from the floor.

New Jersey, which will be kicking off a four-game homestand tonight, is just 4-5 in its building this season.
