(Basketball News) - Dwyane Wade scored 16 of his 26 points in the first half to lead Miami to a 113-90 win over Charlotte at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Wade converted 11-of-16 shots from the field and dished out nine assists for the Heat, who extended their franchise-high winning streak to 14 games. Shaquille O’Neal finished with 16 points, while Eddie Jones delivered 11 of his 13 points in the third quarter.
Miami’s tear is the longest in the NBA since New Jersey strung together a 14- game stretch last season. Miami also has out-shot opponents in 20 straight games, the longest run since the Philadelphia 76ers pieced together a 22-game stretch in 1980-81.
The Heat are also 18 games over .500 for the first time since ending the 2000-01 season at 50-32.
Less than five minutes into the third quarter, Charlotte got within 63-56 on a dunk by Gerald Wallace. However, a three-point play by Wade capped a 18-4 burst and put the Heat ahead 81-60 with 3:53 to go in the third. They led 90-68 at the end of the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats cut their deficit to 16 points, but got no closer.
Miami will return to action on Monday against Seattle.
